boost vagy hirdetés

Boost or Ads?

If you have already tried to advertise on Facebook, you must have noticed that you can simply highlight a post, but Facebook has a tool specifically for creating ads, the Facebook Ads Manager. Those who are not familiar with this world may at first think that these two are one and the same, but this is not true. Let's see what is the difference between the two and which one is recommended for which purpose.

WARM UP

In recent years, even with the naked eye, the reach of organic posts has decreased. The easiest way for your post to reach many people is to highlight the post, in English "boost".

What is Boost?

Highlight button for business profiles can be found under every post. This tool allows you to make your post already created on the site available to a larger audience.

Boost is just one advertising technique among many. It's good for promoting a post, but it's not good enough to drive sales, increase conversions, or acquire customers by itself. It's actually a dumbed-down, simplified version of Facebook ads.

Disadvantages

The options for setting the boost are quite limited, as we can only set 3 things: the target audience, maximum cost and the duration of the ad.
Perhaps the biggest disadvantage is that you cannot choose between campaign types, and in addition, many other important settings and options are not available, such as ad timing, text/image modification, A/B testing, advanced target audience settings (e.g. : similar, remarketing), and you can't even optimize.

LVL UP: FACEBOOK AD MANAGER

In comparison, Facebook's advertising platform provides almost unlimited testing, optimization and experimentation, and we have much more detailed setting options.

  • To begin with, we can choose from 11 types of campaign goals, but in order to choose the right one, we need to know exactly what our goal is, what we want to achieve.
  • Ads can be modified even after they have been created. Simple post boosting cannot be edited, only deleted and then created again.
  • Modification of placements (Where should your ad appear, on which device, only in newsfeed or in story)
  • Last but not least, the advertising statistics provide an opportunity to follow the performance of the campaigns, the return on the advertising money spent, or to see what is not going according to our ideas and where, what can be refined in order to increase profits.

CASE STUDY

If you want to understand the difference between the two types of advertising, it is worth reading a couple of case studies that support the differences with numbers.

One
American Marketing agency evaluated the performance of the ads placed in the highlight and ads manager.
The two ads were aimed at the same target group, and both types of ads appeared only in the telephone news feed. The results showed that the click-through rate was twice as high for Facebook ads (1.37%).

Conclusion

Even though the boost looks simple, don't give in to the temptation! On the one hand, your post will reach many more people if you create it in the ad manager, and on the other hand, thanks to the use of the latter, you have so many options and campaign types at your disposal.
In the event that you only occasionally -sometimes you would like to boost the reach and activity of a post. However, if you want to get more out of your business and want to advertise more effectively, then we clearly recommend the ad manager.

Today, online advertising management is considered a separate profession. The advertising platforms of Facebook and Google are complex and complex systems, which have such depths and sectors that only a professional can see them in their entirety and manage them in a truly profitable way.
